French Roots. Crafted in Washington, DC
I'm Marion—a native Parisian, an American by choice, and the founder of Cloudette.
Some of my happiest childhood memories begin the same way.
Walking into a neighborhood bakery in Paris. The smell of warm pastry filling the air. A small paper bag that never made it home unopened.
In France, pastry isn't reserved for special occasions. It's part of everyday life. A stop after school. Breakfast around the family table. A simple ritual that brings people together.
Years later, after moving to Washington, D.C. with my young daughter, I wanted to share those same traditions with her.
But I was looking for something very specific.
A dessert that felt joyful and beautifully crafted—but never overwhelmingly sweet.
Something indulgent without feeling heavy.
Something I would be just as happy sharing with my daughter as serving at the end of a dinner with friends.
I couldn't find it.
So I decided to create it.
Alongside a demanding full-time career, I enrolled in French pastry school. Nights, weekends, and early mornings became hours of learning, baking, and refining every detail.
One pastry kept calling me back: the French chou.
Instead of recreating a classic cream puff, I asked myself one simple question:
What would a modern French chou look like today?
That question turned into more than a year of experimentation.
Hundreds of batches.
Countless recipes.
Creams that were too rich.
Shells that weren't crisp enough.
Tiny adjustments that made all the difference.
Until one day...
It finally tasted exactly as I had imagined.
Light.
Delicate.
Balanced.
A crisp chou with an impossibly airy cream that almost melts away on the palate.
Cloudette was born.
Its name brings together Cloud and the beloved French chouquette, because that feeling of lightness is at the heart of everything we create.
Today, every Cloudette is handcrafted in small batches using thoughtfully sourced ingredients—from Madagascar vanilla beans and French fruit purées to regional honeys and artisan chocolates.
Our philosophy is simple:
Luxury isn't about excess.
It's about balance.
It's about craftsmanship.
It's about creating something so thoughtfully made that it leaves you wanting just one more bite.
Thank you for being part of our story.
We can't wait to share many more Cloudettes—and memories—with you.
If you're curious how it all came together, we’d be happy to share the rest.
